Introduction

Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) is a Government institution established on November 3, 1996, under the Ministry of Science and Technology with the objective of developing and promoting renewable/alternative energy technologies in Nepal. Currently, it is under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation with additional mandate of energy efficiency and climate change & carbon mitigation activities. It is the first accredited Direct Access Entity to Green Climate Fund. It functions independently and has an eleven member’s board with representatives from the government sector, industry sector and non-governmental organizations.

The mission of AEPC is to make renewable energy and energy efficiency mainstream resource through the energy accessibility, knowledge and adaptability contributing towards improved living conditions of people of Nepal and combatting climate change globally. The focus is to make AEPC recognized as an active institution promoting Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Technologies along with climate change & carbon mitigation activities in the region.
